An aesthetic treatment like a VI Peel in Kansas City doesn’t require the same preparation as a more intensive procedure, like a facelift. However, there are still some pre-care steps we recommend patients take before they come in for their appointment.

In the 48 to 72 hours before their treatment, patients should discontinue the use of retinoids, AHAs, and BHAs, as they can negatively affect the treatment process. We also recommend patients avoid direct sun exposure for at least a week before their treatment, as the UV rays can irritate and inflame the skin.

Patients should also avoid exfoliating the skin and applying harsh products, like self-tanners, 3 to 5 days before their session.

Following a VI Peel treatment session, patients need to keep their skin hydrated. However, they should still avoid harsh skincare products, so we recommend using gentle moisturizers and cleansers for the best results.

Patients should not pick at any flaking or peeling skin, as this can interrupt the healing process. To maintain the healthy, clear shine of new skin, you should also avoid direct sunlight for at least 2 weeks following treatment. If you do go outside, wear sunscreen and a hat to protect your face.

Patients should also refrain from applying any exfoliating treatments to the skin until the peeling process has completely subsided.
